I’m on board for the production of “Amazing Grace”. Go to www.afflictedpicturehouse.com for more information. The movie stars Leslie Easterbrook (Police Academy, Devil’s Rejects) and Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th, Hatchet). My good friend Daniel Jones (Patrol, Dust, Replicant) has a supporting role. Exciting stuff.
There might be a better way to repost this blog entry from The Wandering Puma, but for now, this will do.
My apologies to the handful of people out there that might browse my blog from time to time. I’ve been really slack about updating it, so I wouldn’t really expect many avid followers of my page. That aside, I have an excuse; not much is new.
ButcherMedia LLC is in full swing and doing relatively well (the economic crisis and all considered). Commercial production has been good to me and it pays the bills, but my heart is still firmly rooted in film.
I’ve not been exercising my creative muscles too much this summer. Some dabbling here, a little collaboration there, and some scribbling that might pass as writing. My most recent script, “Killing Time”, is in production in Charleston. In brief, it’s about a hitman who meets an old man who claims to be hundreds of years old. Of course, there’s a twist, but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out what it is.
The deadline for the film production grant is on the horizon and again, it looks like I’m coming up empty handed. It seems crazy that the state is practically giving away $100k and I lay around unmotivated. In my defense, if the stipulations and regulations surrounding the grant weren’t so suffocating, I might be more eager. Cause that’s art, right? It should be a freedom of expression, non-conforming.
Eh. I smell Los Angeles.
It’s been a rough week for sport, depending on who you cheer for. As a US Soccer and Andy Murray fan, I have to admit, I’m bummed out. However, the US put up a great fight against on of the best teams in the world (Brazil). Andy Murray, with the weight of a nation on his shoulders, also put up a great fight against Roddick. As we all expected though, Roger Federer prevailed in the end to reaffirm his status as the greatest tennis player to ever grace the courts.
This year’s 4th of July was one of the most epic in recent memory. Thanks to Andy Gandolfo for having us all out at his parent’s house on Lake Murray. July 5th was a rough day - but that’s a good sign, I guess. Oh, and congrats to Chestnut for winning the hotdog eating contest.
I’m chuffed about the USA Men’s Soccer Team whooping on Egypt, followed by an inspirational display against Spain, the #1 ranked team in the world. It gives all Americans hope again as we march on towards the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the boys can go all the way and win the final on Sunday. That said, I’m assuming the opponent will be Brazil and I’d be happy not to get demoralized again.
Between the USA’s change in fortune and the short-term return of Beckham next month, it looks like soccer is back on top in the USA for at least a little while.
